Code of Conduct

Couchmate provides a platform for viewers of live TV a place to discuss, react and enjoy the content they're watching, together. TV is inherently live and we think that providing a space to engage with TV in real-time is something that the world wants and needs.
This Code of Conduct is meant to lay the ground rules for what is not acceptable on our platform. Providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all Couchmate users is paramount to fostering real and engaging communities. We take moderation seriously and will enforce this Code of Conduct to the fullest extent.
Interaction Between Users
Do not harass other users. This includes bullying, demeaning or disrespecting others. We're here to have fun and engage with the media we love together, be respectful of each other.
Do not use or promote hate speech. We are all human beings and should be respected as such. Using language that undermines one's humanity or integrity is unacceptable. There's plenty of room for nuanced discussion while still being respectful.
Do not threaten or intimidate. Any form of violence or threats of violence is unacceptable. You can still have impassioned and heated discussions without resorting to threatening one's well-being.
Do not evade muting. If someone mutes you, they don't want to hear what you have to say. That is their choice. Any attempt to evade or circumvent the muting mechanics will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately.
Contributing Content
Refrain from highly sexualized or triggering content. Unless the show you're in is exploring these topics or themes, please be aware that you probably don't know everyone in the room. Sensitive topics should be discussed with care and respect, not trivialized or exploited.
Do not post content sexualizing minors. Describing or discussing minors sexually is forbidden. Those found in violation will be immediately banned.
Do not post potentially extremist content. Extremist content includes advocating for violence against others due to their race, color, creed, religion or associations.
Do not post content promoting illegal behavior or activity.
Respect the Platform
Couchmate is here to give space. Space to talk, discuss and react with each other about TV. Running Couchmate and being able to give you space is a large and involved effort. Respect the employees of Couchmate.
Do not create or use bots. Couchmate is for humans. The creation or usage of automation tools around the Couchmate platform is strictly prohibited.
Do not spam. Let everyone have their space on Couchmate. Spamming reduces quality and creates unnecessary noise that distracts from what's going on. Appropriate actions will be taken against those who engage in spamming.
